U.S. Threatens War with Iran

President Donald Trump has amassed a large armada around Iran and is sending more ships, missiles and troops.  He threatens to “wipe Iran off the face of the earth.”  The “peace” president who wanted the Nobel prize has threatened to annihilate the 90 million people who live in Iran.

Iran has said that if they are attacked by the U.S. or Israel, they “will respond in the hardest way possible.”  As was seen during the recent 12-day war, Iran was able to cause great damage to Israel and penetrate all U.S. and Israeli defenses.  Israel was forced to ask Trump to intervene, which he did, leading to an agreement to stop the war. Expecting serious retaliation from any attack on Iran, Trump is beefing up the air defense around the U.S. and Israeli bases in the area. 

This expected military attack is what the U.S. imperialists do when other means they use to try to topple governments fail.  Recently, the U.S. tried to topple the Iranian government through economic warfare and encouraging violent protests. In a short period of time the Iranian currency, the rial, plunged in value by 40%.  This was caused by currency manipulation from outside the country and, coming on top of decades of harsh economic sanctions imposed by the U.S., has caused merchants to take to the streets in protest. 

Scott Bessent, the U.S. treasury secretary, boasted at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, of the role that the US played in causing these protests.  He claimed, “things are moving in a very positive way…”

The U.S. encouraged these protests to go violent using assets that they had developed within the country for years.  Weapons, as well as thousands of Starlink communication devices were smuggled into the country.  These devices allowed communication through Elon Musk’s satellite network.  Through this network the U.S. was able to give instructions to their armed assets in Iran who burned fire engines and ambulances, shot police and caused destruction in a number of areas of the country. 

But it did not work.  To the amazement of the U.S., the Iranian authorities were able to shut down the Starlink communication system.  They went on to call for counter protests that were massive while the initial merchant protest and the violent agitators quickly melted away.

This was a surprise to the U.S. warmongers, so they now move to threaten Iran with war.

The Trump administration has moved from one egregious act to the next at a dizzying speed.  After fighting the genocide in Gaza, we had to respond to the bombing of Venezuela and the kidnapping of its President Nicolas Maduro and first combatant Cilia Flores, we witness the murders of protesters in the streets of Minneapolis and now the threats of war on Iran.  Neither Venezuela nor Iran have ever threatened the United States.  It is U.S. imperialism that is the aggressor in every case and if it is not stopped, it can destroy the world.

But the world is changing, and the U.S. is being challenged like never before. Its privileged economic position in the world is being challenged as the former colonies of imperialism and victims of sanctions move away from the imperialist’s economic “disorder”, away from the U.S. dollar, and towards new economic alliances.  Masses of people throughout Venezuela are protesting daily demanding the return of their president and for national sovereignty.  Iran is building its defenses and the people of Minneapolis and around the country are not just protesting but resisting and confronting the armed gang called ICE.  The US/NATO initiated war in Ukraine is being lost.  Though they expected to destroy Russia with this war, it is destroying the U.S.’s NATO allies. 

Though it is a cold winter in the U.S., UNAC urges people to stay in the streets, resist ICE and connect the dots with the U.S. wars everywhere.
