Report on Rally for Peace and Solidarity in New York City on March 13, 2016
None of the major candidate are talking about U.S. wars. Keep endless wars an issue during this campaign.

New York, NY - Hundreds of people rallied in New York’s busy Herald Square for a Day of Peace and Solidarity. Called by the United National Antiwar Coalition (UNAC), the protest brought attention to the fact that none of the major candidates are speaking about the U.S. wars and intervention happening in many parts of the world. The protest was under the slogan, “End to the Wars at Home and Abroad.” This was reflected by banners and signs that included, “Money for jobs and people’s needs, not war,” “Rebuild Flint! Rebuild our cities! End the wars,” “Defend the Black Lives Matter movement,” and “No to Islamophobia.”  [read more]

Report on UNAC's Participation in the Eastern European Social Forum

It’s now been 25 years since what is generally referred to as the “Transformation” - the transition from socialism back to capitalism in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The resulting economic and social dislocation and the rise of right-wing, anti-immigrant movements are serious issues that progressives in the region are trying to address.

To help move this process forward, representatives from dozens of organizations from more than 20 countries gathered March 11-13, in Wroclaw, Poland, for a “Social Forum of Eastern Europe& Cooperation between South & East.” [read more]

New Drone Film, "Eye in the Sky" is Propaganda

download and distribute the flyer below at a theater near you

The new drone film Eye in the Sky presents a dishonest, sugar-coated view of the U.S. killer drone operation.  It claims that they can precision-drop their bombs, only on selected known targets who will kill innocent people, so, of course, they are saving many lives.  When one child wanders into the kill zone, they agonize about the possibility of killing her, and kick it up to the U.S. Secretary of State and the British Prime Minister to get the okay.  The not-made-in-Hollywood reality is one of killing hundreds, if not thousands, of children in many countries to satisfy U.S. corporate interests.  This film gives us a window of opportunity to reach many people with the truth about drones by downloading and distributing the flyer (see link below) at local cinemas showing the film. (The back side of the flyer can be modified to include local contact information.)
