This year, UNAC will celebrate its 10th anniversary as we hold our 5th national conference.  This year may be the most important.  As millions took to the streets in Iraq to call for U.S. troops to leave their country, the Trump administration has called for 3 new military bases to be built in Iraq.  US troops have taken over the oil fields in Syria and have attacked and killed Iranian leader Qassem Soleimani on Iraqi territory, threatening to bring the entire region into war.  The U.S. has aggressively attacked as many as 39 countries with economic warfare and sanctions and has proposed a “peace plan,” which legalizes all of Israel’s land grabs and attacks on Palestinians.  The world is watching to see what the people in the U.S. will do.  It is now more important than ever that we build a strong antiwar movement.  Join us on the weekend of February 21 – 23 and help build the movement that is necessary.

Global Days of Protest Against U.S. imposed economic sanctions

Sanctions are imposed by the United States and its junior partners against countries that resist their agendas.  They are a weapon of Economic War, resulting in chronic shortages of basic necessities, economic dislocation, chaotic hyperinflation, artificial famines, disease, and poverty.  In every country, the poorest and the weakest – infants, children, the chronically ill and the elderly – suffer the worst impact of sanctions.

US imposed sanctions, violate international law and are a tool of regime change. They impact a third of humanity in 39 countries.  They are a crime against humanity used, like military intervention, to topple popular governments and movements.   They provide economic and military support to pro-US right-wing forces.

Support the Venezuelan Embassy  Protectors at their upcoming trial

The trial of the four Embassy Protectors, Kevin Zeese, Margaret Flowers, Adrienne Pine, and David Paul, will take place on February 11. The Trump administration’s Department of Justice is pushing to limit what the jury can be told about the action to protect the Venezuelan Embassy last spring, so they will not be aware of key facts.  It is very important that their supporters show up in court on February 11th to make it clear that they are not alone, and they have supporters throughout the country and the world.

The trial will start on February 11, at 9 AM at the Prettyma Courthouse, 333 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, DC in room 22-A with Judge Beryl Howell.

The 4 Embassy Protectors face a jail sentence and up to $100,000 in fines.  They urgently need our support.
