Noise Free Colonie

Noise is a serious health hazard. Noise is linked to hearing loss, sleep deprivation, aggressive behavior, chronic fatigue, high blood pressure, heart disease, and declining school performance. Noise is especially damaging to children and women.  Noise pollution is getting worse. In the last 15 years, noise levels have risen six-fold in major US cities. The Census Bureau reports that noise is Americans' top complaint about their neighborhoods, and the major reason for wanting to move.

One of the worst offenders in Colonie is the Roman Pub at 461 Troy Schenectady Rd., Latham, NY 12110.  There have been repeated complaints logged against this bar for noise and there have been numerous arrests for criminal activity including fights and drugs.  The manager of the bar and the employees have had repeated requests to close their doors at night so as to not disturb the neighborhood.  These requests have been ignored.  The bar remains open till the early hours of the morning, during both weekdays and weekends.  This is affecting the quality of life in the neighborhood surrounding the Roman Pub.

What can be done about the Roman Pub.

Make a complaint to the New York State Liquor Authority asking that the Roman Pub’s liquor license be reviewed and that there be sanctions and/or removal of their liquor license unless the behavior is ended.
